UAE VAT Calculator
UAE VAT is charged at a standard rate of 5%, administered by the Federal Tax Authority. To add VAT, multiply the net price by 1.05. To extract VAT from a VAT-inclusive total, multiply it by 5/105 (about 4.76%). For example, AED 1,000 before VAT becomes AED 1,050, and AED 1,000 including VAT contains AED 47.62 of VAT.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate 5% VAT in the UAE?
Multiply the price before VAT by 0.05 to get the VAT, or by 1.05 to get the VAT-inclusive total. For example, AED 200 before VAT carries AED 10 of VAT, for a total of AED 210. The 5% standard rate has applied since VAT was introduced on 1 January 2018.
How do I remove VAT from a VAT-inclusive price?
Multiply the VAT-inclusive amount by 5/105 to get the VAT, then subtract it, or divide the total by 1.05 to get the net price. AED 1,000 including VAT is AED 952.38 net plus AED 47.62 VAT. Taking 5% of the total (AED 50) is a common mistake that overstates the VAT.
Is every sale in the UAE charged 5% VAT?
No. Most supplies are standard-rated at 5%, but some are zero-rated, such as qualifying exports outside the GCC and international transport, and some are exempt, such as certain financial services, bare land and local passenger transport. Use the 0% rate for those lines in Line items mode.
When must a business register for UAE VAT?
Registration is mandatory when taxable supplies and imports exceeded AED 375,000 in the past 12 months or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days. A business can register voluntarily above AED 187,500.
