How to use the Image Compressor

  1. Click Choose images or drag up to 20 images onto the box.
  2. Set the Quality slider (60–80% is a good starting point).
  3. Optionally change the Output format or choose a Max width.
  4. Check the size saving next to each image, then click Download or Download all.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my images get?

It depends on the image. Photos saved at high quality often shrink a lot at 60–80% quality, and limiting the width helps even more. Images that are already optimised may not shrink; in that case the tool keeps your original file.

Why did my PNG not get smaller?

PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply and the browser’s PNG encoder rarely beats the original. For photos or large graphics, choose WebP or JPEG as the output format for a much bigger saving.

Does compression remove photo metadata?

Yes. Images are redrawn and re-encoded, so EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location is not copied to the compressed file. That is useful for privacy when sharing photos online.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression uses the canvas API inside your browser, and the downloads are created locally. The previous server option has been removed, so no image leaves your device.
