WebP & AVIF Converter

A WebP converter turns JPG, PNG and other images into the WebP format, which usually produces smaller files for websites. This free tool converts up to 30 images at once in your browser, lets you set quality, shows the size change for each file and also exports AVIF when your browser can encode it. Images are never uploaded to a server.

Free, no signup. Runs entirely in your browser; files and text are not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do all browsers support WebP images?

All current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari display WebP images, so WebP is safe for most websites. Keep a JPG or PNG fallback only if you must support very old browsers or email clients.

Should I use WebP or AVIF?

AVIF often produces smaller files than WebP at similar visual quality, but it is slower to encode and some tools cannot open it yet. WebP is the safer default; use AVIF where every kilobyte matters and your audience uses modern browsers.

Why is my WebP file larger than the original?

Small graphics or images that were already heavily compressed can grow when re-encoded. Lower the quality or keep the original; the tool labels any file that got larger.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Earlier versions of this tool sent images to a server; conversion now happens entirely in your browser using the canvas API, so your files stay on your device.
